Rita Connizzo on the importance of having fitness facilities that drive participation:
Having come on board as Sports Club Director at Cherry Valley Country Club last fall, our refurbished fitness center is not only fresh and new to our 700-plus members, but to me, as well. Prior to the upgrade and renovation, the facility had a small fitness room with a limited selection of equipment, most of which was somewhat antiquated and ineffective. Today, members can thrive with amazing new Technogym equipment, modern programming and amenities, fitness-related merchandise and a staff of professionals, including Ken Turash, Janea Munoz and David Gerardi Sr., there to serve members’ health and wellness needs. In my role, I oversee the fitness center, our staff, the programming, racquet sports and aquatics services. With construction taking five months, and planning and discussion much more than that, I joined the team at the right time, as we just unveiled the new space in December, a few weeks before Christmas. What a wonderful holiday gift to our members! We have a group fitness studio allowing up to a dozen participants per class, a golf performance area with new Functional Golf Specialist, Godelieve Babey, and a main floor with two dozen state-of-the-art Technogym machines and extensive selection of free weights. As we continue to settle into our new surroundings, we are finding the Technogym equipment to be quite versatile in building golf fitness programs that will help our members play better, and do so pain-free. The Kinesis equipment offers an infinite amount of movement patterns to improve strength, balance and coordination on a wide scale, as well as for position-specific exercises. In combination with the machines, it allows the adaptability to navigate around areas of pain or weakness. The Power Mode System on the cable cross and weight machines shows its true benefits in semi-explosive to explosive modes by providing security and support on repetitive moves. The cardio equipment’s Internet integration, combined with the Technogym app, keeps track of your activity and helps with boredom prevention.
Rita Connizzo on the business impact of having fitness facilities that drive participation:
Now in full swing, we offer a simple, yet comprehensive schedule of seven in-person classes per week, including Pilates, barre, yoga, dance and HIIT. They’re free to members and open to guests for a nominal charge. The upgraded facilities with top-notch equipment, new programming and dedicated staff demonstrate our commitment to our members’ well-being & the future of golf fitness at Cherry Valley Country Club. In addition, we have food and beverage services with a selection of healthy snacks, meals and drinks, and a retail space that offers a variety of fitness and leisure apparel, hoodies and racquet equipment and gear.
